Sierra Monolithics Ships 500,000 units of WiMAX Transceiver ICs

REDONDO BEACH, CA -- Sierra Monolithics, a leading Analog/ RF IC company for Wireless, Optical Communications, and Microwave/Millimeter Wave applications, is proud to announce an important shipment milestone. The company recently completed the 500,000 units shipment milestone for its WiMAX transceiver ICs. For Sierra Monolithics, a company known for bringing high-performance ICs to volume production, this shipment milestone marks a great success for the company that began its WiMAX program in 2004.

Sierra Monolithics offers its customers high-performance WiMAX transceiver IC solutions for fixed (802.16-2004) and mobile (802.16e) applications. SMI7030 RFIC is a cost-effective WiMAX solution, targeted for indoor CPE units being used in both 802.16-2004 and 802.16e applications, while SMI7335 RFIC is 802.16e compliant features a fully configurable 2x2 MIMO transceiver. All Sierra Monolithics WiMAX RFICs are single-chip solutions featuring dual-band frequency coverage in the popular 2.5 and 3.5 GHz WiMAX licensed bands.

The recently released SMI7335 RFIC is designed for Wave 2 products, optimized for low-power consumption. It is suitable for nomadic, repeater and small basestation applications. Fully configurable 2x2 MIMO operation and 4-band coverage (1.3 GHz, 1.8 GHz, 2.5 GHz and 3.5 GHz) are the key features of this IC. This product is currently sampling with key customers.
